Macam Katak
This performance was inspired by a Malay proverb 'macam katak di bawah tempurung' which means a frog who is comfortable living on its own in its own enclosure. Due to unknown reasons, the frog is afraid to go out and experience the world around him, perhaps because of its own fear to try something new.
In this performance I decided to imitate the frog's way of life so I stayed in a box the size about 6 x 3 sqm for 3 days straight. I abstained from food during the whole performance but allowed myself to drink mineral water. Instead of totally locking myself in like the frog I received a daily supply of local newspapers, a computer with 24 hours access to the internet and I also opened the door of the space inviting people to come into the box for conversations
