Voice of the Jungle — Part 1 & Part 2 (Video)
Voice of the Jungle captures memory in relation to diminishing landscapes, cultures, and changing ways of life.
The work unfolds in two parts.
The first part was filmed in the rainforest of Ulu Baram, Miri, Sarawak. It follows the Penan, a formerly nomadic forest community now resettled alongside neighbouring tribes such as the Kenyah. The video also reflects on the experiences of the Iban, another indigenous group in Sarawak, as they navigate rapid changes brought about by deforestation.
The second part was filmed in Pos Piah, Perak, documenting the daily life of the Temiar community. It observes their preparations for Sewang, a ritual performed during significant occasions, while also addressing concerns about ongoing logging activities that threaten their environment.
